The Movies That Matter supported Malawi Film Festival 2018 is one of its own kind. Imagine reaching rural communities – most of whom have never been to a cinema, do not have power supply and even the chance to watch any film – with films on the big screen. What more, the films carry strong social messaging such as discrimination against the LGBTI persons, thereby creating forums for discussions on these emotive subjects. The festival is run by Positivo NGO which is using the power of film to inspire communities to be agents of change.

Ndinu Otani is a gripping Malawian movie about love, betrayal, and the dark consequences of manipulation. With her mother’s guidance, the plan works, and she manages to steal the man away, forcing him to abandon his wife and child. However, as the man’s life takes a dark turn under the influence of the evil forces
