Après 25 ans de règne à la tête d'un pays, un parti politique se voit décrié pour l'excès de ses dignitaires. Le neveu direct du président est le plus décrié pour ses agissements. Le tripatouillage de la constitution par voie référendaire est la goutte d'eau qui fait déborder le vase. Le pays sombre dans un bras de fer opposant le peuple aux dignitaires du pouvoir bien décidés à user de tous les moyens pour se maintenir en place. La fièvre des évènements poussera-t-elle le pouvoir à abdiquer ?

De tout ce qui est conclu par ces dames comme stratégies, seul leur mot de passe est entendu. « Trompe- moi, si tu peux » est le code de cette opération de reconquête conjugale.

écrit et réalisé par Ibrahim Olukunga, « Trompe-Moi, Si Tu Peux », ramène encore à l’écran cette réalité qui est sans doute le quotidien de nombreux couples. Cette fois-ci, le scenario du film semble être un regard accusateur.

Situé au Burkina Faso avant la colonisation française de la région, ce film raconte le sort de Saga (Rasmane Ouedraogo), qui retourne dans le village de sa famille et découvre que la femme dont il était amoureux, Nogma (Ina Cissé), a épousé son père. . Cela n’empêche cependant pas le couple de se revoir. Mais lorsqu'on découvre que Saga et Nogma ont couché ensemble, ce que la loi considère comme un inceste, le frère de Saga, Kougri (Assane Ouedraogo), reçoit l'ordre de le tuer.

Au milieu du XIXe siècle, à la mort de l'empereur de la Haute Volta (l'actuel Burkina Faso), le Prince Tanga organise un coup d'État afin d'accéder au pouvoir. Il enlève une jeune villageoise, Awa, à son fiancé et la prend pour femme. Dix ans plus tard, Tanga apprend que son fils Salam est en réalité un enfant adultérin. Menacé de mort, Salam s'enfuit avec la vengeance au cœur. La colère des dieux est prête à retentir...

Yaaba se déroule dans les paysages spectaculaires du Burkina Faso rural, à une époque mythique où la vie paysanne était encore préservée du colonialisme. C'est l'histoire d'une amitié entre Bila, Nopoko et une vieille femme rejetée comme sorcière par le reste de la communauté. Sans la craindre, Bila, douze ans, l'appelle « Yaaba » (grand-mère) et découvre la valeur de l'intolérance et sa propre valeur en tant qu'être humain. Ouédraogo, qui a tourné le film dans son propre village, a déclaré qu'il était « inspiré des contes de mon enfance et de ce genre d'histoires qu'on entend avant de s'endormir ».
