1925: In der Stadt Nome in Alaska erkranken viele Einwohner an einer Welle von Diphtherie. Die Zeit drängt, denn viele von ihnen schweben in Lebensgefahr und passende Heilmittel gibt es im Ort nicht. Um die wichtigen Medikamente in die Stadt zu bekommen, wird ein tollkühner Plan gefasst: 20 Hundeführer mit insgesamt 150 Schlittenhunden werden auf eine knapp 1000 Meilen lange Reise geschickt, darunter der Hund Togo und sein Besitzer Leonhard Seppala (Willem Dafoe). Beide sind für derartige Strapazen bei teilweise -40 Grad eigentlich zu alt, strotzen aber vor Willensstärke - und einer ganze besonderen Beziehungen untereinander.

Overview:Based on a true story, the film tells the story of Leonhard Serpara, a master sledder, and his sled dog Togo, who transported the serum to save the lives of Alaskan children in 1925. On the way, Serpara and Togo dodged crises by falling off cliffs and crossing glaciers with unstable ice conditions, and Serpara even lost his eyesight by going snow-blind at one point. In the end, with the cooperation of Togo and the other dogs, a team of them ran 425 kilometers and completed the mission!
