Most Dangerous Ways To School - Vietnam: https://youtu.be/W10KhZWOz6I
They live in Papua New Guinea, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, in the middle of one of the world’s largest rainforests. And some of them take a route to school which will blow your mind.
That is certainly the case for 8-year-old Junior and his cousin Ruth. Their journey in the so-called ‘Land of 1000 Rivers’ is a five-day one which leads the students through jungles, in which new and unique animals are continuously being discovered, and in whose branches the notorious green tree python lurks. For the children these snakes are not just a threat but also a delicacy, because they hunt their own food every day, as well as climb steep mountainsides and cross countless rivers. Their journey to school is too risky to tackle alone; that is why father Michael accompanies his son and niece on this adventure. They travel over one hundred kilometres, and on this trip the children fear nothing more than the large Takali river. It separates their home - the jungle - from modern civilisation, and has already claimed the lives of many who have attempted to cross it.
It is more than just a walk to school – It is a test in the vast jungle. And not all of the students will reach their destination...

Police violently battling murderous gangs. Endemic violence, extreme poverty, obscene wealth and corruption on all levels. Welcome to Port-Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Last summer, a settling of scores between tribal clans left 32 dead. But that is nothing compared to what’s going on in the city. Here the police wage a merciless war against the Raskols gangs. In 2020, Port Moresby was ranked the 2nd most violent capital city in the world, just behind Caracas, Venezuela.
Women in particular pay a high price for this violence. 80% of men admit to beating their wives regularly. One in two women will be raped during their lifetime. There are only a few shelters they can turn to and their attackers are rarely prosecuted.
Corruption is also rife and for those with the right connections, PNG is an El Dorado. Thanks to its rich mineral deposits, the capital has experienced an unrivalled real estate boom in the past 10 years.

Off the coast of Guinea-Bissau lies the Bjssagos Archipelago, a sanctuary of untamed nature and deep-rooted traditions. For centuries, the Bissagos people ruled these waters—fearless sailors, elusive pirates, and masters of the sea. They navigated a labyrinth of islands where no outsider dared to follow, protecting their sacred homeland from invaders. Today, their connection to the ocean remains unbreakable. Guardians of a fragile ecosystem, they live in harmony with nature, honoring ancestral rituals and preserving a way of life shaped by the tides.

We invite you to discover the Bissagos Islands, an isolated territory of Guinee Bissau, in West Africa. These sacred lands resemble a vast river delta.
Marcelinho is a traditional healer from Empincha, a village situated on the island of Carache in the Bijagos Islands. He learned the art of traditional medicine from his father and has been practicing it to treat people in the northern islands. In recent years, Marcelinho has also received training in the fundamentals of modern western medicine from foreign doctors.
The Bissagos Islands are home to the island of Orango, situated in the far south, and designated as a World Biosphere Reserve and the country's first National Park. Pedro, a generous man, resides on this island and works as a reporter for Okinka Pampa, Orango's small radio station. He is always on the lookout for stories to share with his listeners.
Quintino, residing on the island of Caravella, is preparing for the fanado, the highest initiation rite that will unlock a mysterious and secret world to him. This rite is considered the most important phase of his life and is celebrated by the community with great enthusiasm.

In the West African nation of Guinea-Bissau, this thought-provoking film takes you on a journey that follows brave local women who challenge patriarchy by building institutions that promote self-sufficiency through agroecology. They also defy social norms by standing up against female genital mutilation and rejecting forced marriage. Carrying forward the legacy of Amílcar Cabral, the Bissau-Guinean independence leader who placed women’s rights at the center of the struggle for liberation, the women of a rising generation are taking their power back.

Nteregu is a visual and sonic journey through the music of Guinea-Bissau. From the rhythms of the Tina (traditional Guinean drum) and the communal spirit of the “mandjuandadi,” to the “tabancas” of the “griots” and the dance floors of Europe, the film traces the evolution of Guinean music across centuries. Featuring ancestral instruments and rare testimonies, it shows how music serves as a bridge, passing down values and knowledge between generations. The film also highlights how women, through the Tina, laid the cultural foundation of the nation and helped unify diverse ethnic groups through music.
