The West African country of Mali is a cradle of the blues, a musical tradition later carried by the transatlantic slave trade to America's cotton fields. Yet today, the music and musicians of Mali are in grave danger. As fundamentalist Islam becomes more widespread, secular music is prohibited, instruments are destroyed and musicians are forced to flee their homeland. Mali Blues follows four artists. Fatoumata "Fatou" Diawara is a rising star on the global pop scene, memorably featured in Abderrahmane Sissako's acclaimed drama Timbuktu. Bassehou Kouyaté is a celebrated ngoni player and traditional griot. Master Soumy is a young street rapper. Ahmed Ag Kaedi is a Tuareg bandleader and guitar virtuoso. Each artist combines musical traditions with contemporary influences, using music to stand up to extremism and inspire peace.

Ek Phool Do Mali is a 1969 Indian Hindi film directed by Devendra Goel. The film is based on the book Do Kadam Aage by Sampat Lal Purohit. The film was a Blockbuster and second highest grossing movie of 1969 along with Aradhana & Do Raaste. Balraj Sahni earned a Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actor. The story was miscredited to Mushtaq Jalili, and is said to have been an inspired adaptation of the 1961 Hollywood classic Fanny, which is debated. The film was remade in Turkish as Evlat in 1972.

Story : Amar, a mountaineering student, falls in love with Somna. They decide to get married shortly after Amar returns from a climbing expedition, but an avalanche at the expedition changes everything.

Yeelen (Bambara for "brightness"/"light") is a 1987 Malian film directed by Souleymane Cissé. It is filmed in the Bambara and Fula languages, and is based on a legend told by the Bambara people. Though the era is undefined, it is presumably set in the 13th century in the Mali Empire and is a heroic quest narrative featuring magic and precognition.

Četiri godine zatvora nisu promijenile Franju. On je diler. Supruga mu umire, a njezini roditelji žele ga prikazati kao nesposobnog roditelja i uzeti mu skrbništvo nad sinom, Malim. Mali voli oca, voli njegove nekonvencionalne odgojne metode i želi živjeti s njim. Franjo nema namjeru nikome opravdavati način na koji odgaja sina, kao što nema namjeru pustiti da ga itko od njega razdvoji. Za četrdeseti rođendan Franjo dobiva dva poklona koji su rješenje svih njegovih problema.

Antonio Nuić rođen je u Sarajevu 1977. godine. Magistrirao je režiju na Akademiji dramske umjetnosti u Zagrebu, gdje u posljednjih pet godina predaje na više kolegija. Za filmove koje režira piše i scenarije. Debitirao je pričom unutar dugometražnog omnibusa Sex, piće i krvoproliće (2004), a kasnije je snimio Sve džaba (2006, Zlatne arene za najbolju režiju i najbolji scenarij), Kenjac (2009, Zlatna arena za najbolji scenarij) i Život je truba (2015). Umjetnički je savjetnik Zagreb Film Festivala i član Upravnog odbora Društva hrvatskih filmskih redatelja.

After spending four years in prison, Franjo hasn't changed. He was, and still is, a drug dealer. His wife is dying, and her parents want to make him look as an incompetent parent in order to take away the custody over his son, Mali. However, Mali loves his father, and wants to live with him. Franjo's parenting methods are unconventional, but he has no intention of explaining them to anybody. He also won't let anybody take his son away from him. For his 40th birthday, Franjo will receive a gift that will solve all his problems.

Antonio Nuić (Sarajevo, 1977) is a writer and director. He graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, Croatia, where he has been working as a professor since 2013. He directed one of the stories in a feature-length anthology film Sex, Booze and Short Fuse (2004), after which he went on to write and direct All for Free (2006, Golden Arenas for best director and screenplay), Donkey (2009, Golden Arena for best screenplay) and Life Is a Trumpet (2015). He is a commissioning editor at Zagreb Film Festival, as well as a member of the Croatian Film Directors' Guild Board of Directors.
