Sao Tome and Principe, officially known as the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, is a Portuguese-speaking island nation situated in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Africa. Both the islands are part of an extinct volcanic range.

Smallest Portuguese Speaking Nation
Sao Tome and Principe is the smallest of all Portuguese-speaking countries

Export
Coca is the main crop of the island nation and it represents 95% of the country’s export. Other export crops include copra, palm kernels and coffee.

Praia Jalé
Praia Jalé is a relatively safe beach. Behold the wonder as giant sea turtles climb up in the morning hours to lay their eggs in the sand. You can spend the night on the beach in small huts without electricity.

Banana Beach
There is hardly a shoreline quieter and perfect for a-relax-and-reflect getaway spot than Banana Beach on the island of Principe. Its clear, shallow waters, forest-fringed edges and, quite likely, no other tourist in sight character are as inspiring as they are energizing.

Dangerous
Sao Tome and Principe is devoid of any dangerous animals but Malaria is the major and the most dangerous disease prevalent in the nation which can kill you.

Pico Cão Grande
The Pico Cão Grande is a landmark needle-shaped volcanic plug peak in the south of São Tomé Island in Obo National Park. It rises dramatically over 370 meters (1,000 feet) above the surrounding terrain and the summit is 668 meters (2,175 feet) above sea level.

Cascata Sao Nicolau
Located a few kilometers into the mountains, Cascata Sao Nicolau (Saint Nikolaus waterfall) is a sight to behold. This lovely waterfall is a wonder as it appears to gush right out of the wall of the jungle.

Democracy
In 1991 São Tomé and Principe held its first multi-party election and have held regularly and fair elections ever since.This is uncharacteristic of the mainland Africa where elections spell doom and anxiety for most nations.

Capital
The island of Sao Tome, which has the capital of the same name, consists of 90% of the total country’s surface area. It is a picturesque town consisting of colonial Portuguese architectural tradition and many attractive parks.

Embedded in a small valley of the Plateau district, 17kms (26mins car drive) from the city centre of Sao Tome, Roca Santa Luzia is a dream place, the perfect hiding place for anyone who wants to get away from the hustles of the big town. The property opened its doors in December 2021. It has five single suits which easily be converted for double occupancy. The bedrooms and shower are stainlessly beautiful. The beautiful garden is a feast for the eyes of nature lovers. The furnishing is simple, elegant and natural. The food is absolutely delicious.
The property is solely owned and run by the two beautiful, ambitious and enterprising sisters, Marie and Theresa. The road from the city centre to Welfare Agro Tourismus, Roca Santa Lucia, is not very good. However, the atmosphere, the warm reception, and the good food that awaits your when you drive in make the trip absolutely worthwhile.
It can be used as a coulisse for events and activities of all types, including movies, weddings, retreats etc.

A terapia moderna do surfe é a reviravolta surpreendente nesta história e acaba por ser a ferramenta para quebrar barreiras e fortalecer estas raparigas e as comunidades. Com a presença especial da surfista de ondas grandes Joana Andrade, o filme revela o dia em que o país viu um grupo de raparigas locais a surfar pela primeira vez na história da ilha!

A short film documenting the quest of a NGO called SOMA, striving to create a better future for girls in Africa. The filmmaker Eduardo vento gives us a glimpse of what it’s like to be a women in São Tomé and Príncipe island. A remote place on earth, blessed with abundance, pristine nature and epic waves but plagued with rife inequality.
The modern-day therapy of surfing is the surprising twist and turns out to be the vessel for breaking down barriers and strengthen girls and communities. With the special presence of the big wave rider Joana Andrade, the film reveals the day when the country has seen a group of local girls surfing for the first time in the history of the island!
