EQUILIBRIO: The SOMA Surf Story (Directors Cut) FULL FILM

"Equilibrio: The SOMA Surf Story," is a captivating short documentary set in São Tomé, an island positioned at the centre of the world. Situated in the Gulf of Guinea, near the west coast of Central Africa, the film introduces us to a remarkable group of young São Toméan women who are defying societal norms and embracing empowerment through the art of surfing, all thanks to the small and dedicated organisation known as SOMA.

The great Zuni culture worker Jim Enote once said, ‘I don’t work on projects anymore, I believe in movements.’

The work that SOMA does resonates with this philosophy, creating a space and platform for young São Toméan woman to embody their full potential. These young woman are living examples of an empowerment that dares to defy the odds, leaving a ripple effect of kindness and hope through the next generations.
