John Garang, a rebel leader of the SPLA and Sudanese Vice President at the time of his death, who was behind the more than 20-year civil war between Southern Sudan and Sudan, was killed in a helicopter crash while returning from a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni and other foreign agents in Uganda.
