Malawi may not be what comes to mind when you think of kung fu movies. But four young acrobats in its capital, Lilongwe, are out to change that. The trailer for their first locally produced action flick, The Town Monger, has been generating buzz online and drawn interest from regional cable distributors. The film will premiere in Malawi this week. Lameck Masina has the story from Lilongwe.

His boss leaves him in charge of the garage with strict orders not to touch any cars. But when some customers from Zambia arrive asking for the boss, Sodo lies, pretending he’s the boss and the owner of the garage! While they go out to eat, Sodo starts admiring their car and can’t resist stealing some parts, leading to him completely wrecking the vehicle.
